Collection: Textils
The tradition of producing cotton-based textiles in Michoacán has been passed down through generations, becoming a way of life for many local families.
These textiles have retained their authenticity, as they are still made for self consumption. Despite the recent growth in commercialization, communities continue to cultivate cotton, spin it by hand, and dye it naturally with indigo, purples, and dyewoods—preserving both their heritage and craftsmanship.
In Michoacán, artisans use both the backstrap loom—of pre-Columbian origin—and the pedal loom, introduced during the colonial period. Cotton and wool serve as the primary raw materials, connecting ancient techniques with evolving cultural influences.
